    Greetings from Sierra College.

This year our summer session will be from June 8 to July 30. We have much better class availability than in recent semesters so if any high school students are interested in our academic enrichment program please encourage them to apply, providing they fulfil the following criteria

    • At least 15 years of age

    • Have completed the tenth grade by the time the summer session begins

    • Have 3.0 cumulative GPA

    • Have assessed into the appropriate transfer level courses

    Further details at

We appreciate that for students that are currently sophomores (but who would be eligible to attend a summer 2015 class) fulfilling the official transcript requirement at the end of 10th grade can be challenging. To simplify the process for these students it has been agreed that the Admissions & Records office will accept an in progress official transcript from sophomores showing that they are currently maintaining a 3.0GPA and are on schedule to complete the sophomore year.

If anyone has any questions or comments please let me know.

    Kind regards

    Alistair Turner

Welcome to Independence High School.  We are truly a 21st century alternative school with relevant and rigorous curriculum designed to meet the learning needs of every student.  We use technology to accelerate student learning and enhance our students' educational experience. Through our "blended" learning (combination of on-ground and on-line) approach to education, our students are able to achieve "mastery" of the essential learning objectives in their courses. We are an inclusive school and wholeheartedly welcome every student as a Trailblazer.

Every student can learn at high levels and reach his or her academic potential.

Independence High School uses 21st Century instructional methods to provide a relevant and rigorous educational alternative for every student.

Independence High School will empower every student to be an independent learner, a critical thinker, and an effective communicator who values learning as a lifelong process.
